Abstract
A literary criticism of the Russian American novel "Lolita" by Vladimir Nabokov, examining its connections with the theme of panorama seen in the works of the 19th-century French author Honoré de Balzac, particularly in his novel "Le Père Goriot" is presented. Details are given discussing ways in which Nabokov actively disdained the writing of Balzac but also referenced his works and themes in his own writing. References to the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky are also made.
